Whitestone Create ICC Centenary Identity

Whitestone International designs will be at the forefront of the International Cricket Council's centenary celebrations around the world in 2009. The global initiative will be celebrated in all 104 Member countries through a range of activities including: Catch The Spirit events, recognition of cricket's heritage and the legends of the game, global recognition of cricket volunteers and the major cricketing series taking place this year.

The identity, design portfolio and collateral system includes the centenary logo and all supporting templates and guidelines across a range of materials including web, event dressing, communications, posters and centenary medals.

The logo itself encapsulates the ICC centenary tagline Catch The Spirit which celebrates cricket’s heritage, legends, invaluable volunteers and golden moments of the game.

Our central focus was to entice and engage fans through emotive values using a powerful design system that encapsulated the core tenets of the initiative and presented a high-quality image around the world. The system also needed to be highly flexible, adaptable and structured so that they could be reproduced using the widest selection of production processes, ” said Whitestone International Director Chris Lightfoot.

“We wanted to develop a clear identity that built on our existing corporate brand to deliver the ICC’s key messages in this important year for the ICC and the sport.” said ICC’s Manager – Member Services & Corporate Affairs Jon Long.

“The design and templates needed to be flexible and user friendly to ensure as wide a take up as possible by our members. What was created and delivered by Whitestone has been important to this undertaking,” continued Mr Long.

“The design has a great strength to it, which allows us to celebrate what will hopefully be a fantastic year of cricket.”

The design can be found on the ICC’s centenary website www.catchthespirit.com
